There are many ways to learn English, but there is no best way. Because everyone has a different learning style.
I am here for those who are bored with books or classical lectures to learn English. You're in the right blog!
Learning English by watching movies and series adds a lot to you. Because learning a language is not only about grammar, but also about meeting a new culture.
The Effects of Watching Movies on Learning English
1) You can learn English words in contexts.
For example, what kind of movie do you watch? Let's say you like sci-fi movies. A person who constantly watches sci-fi will soon become familiar with the patterns there.
The best thing about this is that you can see and hear words in their natural environment, but in classical learning there are very limited objects that you can reconcile when memorizing words.
2) Pronounce
The gestures you use to say a word, the way you say the word, and many other things greatly affect your speech. Because "how" you say is more important than "what" you say. By observing the actors in the movies, you will not only learn new words, but also learn how they are said.
3) Street Language (Speaking)
You cannot usually use the English you learn in classes in everyday life. This is because it is not "real English". So what is "real English" ?
What we hear from film dialogues is "real English", because films are inspired by real life. Actors/Actresses talk with real emotions and quickly. Therefore, the language used is the daily spoken language; simple and almost unregulated.
4) Visuality
Watching movies with English subtitles is a method that supports ‘visual learning’. Subtitled dialogues keep words visually in mind and get your ear used to English pronunciation.
I didn't know that learning English with movies would be so effective. Your article is very good. Thanks for your effort.
